Players Are Too Awesome for Ragnarok

Question: Could you tell us how it all (Ragnarok) ended?

Ah, no, not today. Ragnarok was the culmination of three years of interwoven stories, not just from the PCs but from the hundreds of NPCs they interacted with; without the background of all the rest of their story, lots of what happened at Ragnarok wouldn't make much sense, or wouldn't be as important and gripping. All stories must begin at the beginning before they can get to the end; skipping ahead wouldn't be fair.

But I promise, I'm working double-time these days on the fiction in a pitiful attempt to catch up, so I hope Ragnarok won't be too far in the distant future. There's a brief break in games while we reorganize and recover, so I'm taking advantage of that time to get some extra writing done.

It would be easier if there weren't fifteen or so characters with important threads to contribute to Ragnarok burning fifteen different holes in my writer's notebook, but since it's an embarrassment of riches instead of a bag of mothballs, I won't complain about it.

  1. Is it possible to guess from who is now on the inactive characters list as to who was standing at the end of it all?

    1. You can guess, but you won't be 100% right just from the current roster. :) Some characters lived, some died, and some took leaves of absence to inactive status and may or may not be back.

It's (mostly) reasonable to assume that the folks still on active (mostly) survived, though!

  2. I'd be curious to see a list of people the readers think survived.

    1. Only death I'd be even reasonably certain of is Marcus, and that's based on the tweets.

The four remaining seem likely to have survived, well, because they're still in play.

Terminus and Will would be sidelined even if they survived; same for Sophia and Kettila, due to Tom and Jennie's departure.

Not sure about Sangria, but I'm fairly sure even if both of Anne's girls survived, one would have to be inactive, so her inactive status doesn't really tell us if she died or not.

Which brings us back to Marcus. Al (Ab?) Don doesn't have a secondary character for the second group. We have no idea whether he just can't make that night and is whipping up a replacement for Marcus, or if he's bowed out entirely. If the latter is true, Marcus could hypothetically have just become inactive rather than killed, so, really, OOC, we don't have enough context, except for the tweets, which make it sound like Marcus died.

TL;DR even the one I'm fairly certain of is a wild guess at best.
