Magic!

Hey, everybody! We apologize for the wait, but here's John's belated vlog for this week! He spent all night re-recording it while I was passed out from painkillers, and I'm prepared to say that what I heard through my drugged-out haze sounded great.

And now, back to the boons project... the fun never stops.

  1. Oh Magic: the Gathering, you even color coded the greek-god-equivalents for our convenience!

  2. I just watched the whole thing over on Youtube at 144p (because my internet is behaving like a dying person) and those images still look awesome. I will definitely rewatch this when my net starts behaving itself.

This is what you guys were talking about in the comments when the Magic rewrite came out, isn't it?

All the God pics are amazing, but the Hermes analogue is...I cannot even begin to describe how much I love that picture! :D

And the picture right after the Water chick and the badass warrior lady, the one you called a 'non-sexual Death figure'...that picture made me cry to think that Darkness is in the LAST round of Purview rewrites! Sob! :(

But, seriously, that was an amazing video, especially for someone whose knowledge of Magic: the Gathering is limited to knowing what the colour wheel is. Those weren't cards I was seeing, just art of very high calibre (as far as I can judge these things).

P.S. If I might ask, John, what happened to the video you promised of your Book-to Story project? I was looking forward to that one all of last week.

    1. Anne makes me work on water purview rewrite all the time and take care of her cause she's still very injured :(

But I need to do that ASAP, you're right. Sorry

    2. The arm still isn't healed yet? Get well soon Anne, I'll send a prayer up to Kali for you.

And it's alright really; I can't imagine the amount of work you guys are putting into the Boon project, especially when one half of the dynamic duo lies injured in the line of duty.

Besides, Water is my favourite Element, so this just became a win-win situation for me :)

P.S. Not to sound whiny, but did you guys get my email with Boon suggestions? I never got a confirmation (though given your workload now, that is completely understandable), and this wouldn't be the first time Hotmail's screwed me over.

    3. We work until my pain medication kicks in and I stop functioning, and then John puts me to bed. He's very kind. :)

We did get your email! I'm sorry, we got several around boons and while we have moved the info into a central document so we can reference it while working, we haven't been able to respond to everyone (or anyone, really) yet. But we got it, and thank you. :)

  3. I love MtG card art, I could just stare at it all day! Sadly I never really got into the game, but this setting just looks amazing.

The gray lady sitting in the maze throne looks super cool, does she have a name?

Phenax and Erebos were my second and third favorites... I almost want to model my God-level PC after a combination of the two.

    1. Grey lady looks like a certain prophetess in our games to me. ;) The card is called Spirit of the Labyrinth.

  4. Technically, the catoblepas and the gorgon (the dragony-beasty ones, not the humanoid ones) are two ancient-world naturalists describing the same creature...

A creature we know today as a gnu, or a wildebeest

  5. I still have my first first Magic card: Dark Hatchling (Urza's Saga Rare). My sister bought it for me as a birthday present because I liked the art. If anything keeps me playing (I only play at conventions and in drafts because I can't afford to keep up with the set rotations, or devote the time to deck-crafting), it's the art.

They have some truly amazing artists working for them. I even have a few signed cards. When I sold off most of my collection, I got rid of everything but the Greens (best color) and the REALLY pretty ones. :D

  6. ''i don't know why Typhon has lightning here, but he does... and it looks pretty cool''
The way you said that John, it made me smile one of those ''things are fun in a non-laughable way''-smiles.

  7. Hey this is actually a really great place to ask, since I wasn't sure whether or not it would be wise to continue the questionado assault you're currently undergoing -

John begins the vlog by saying 'it's Greek mythology, but not exactly Greek mythology because -' and continues saying it's on another world, but I finished it in my head with 'because nothing is exactly Greek mythology in any form of media, ever.' What would you say is the most accurate representation of actual Greek mythology out there in some form of media?
