Little Things from Yorubaland

Another solo vlog! Sorry, folks. You'll have to put up with me for just a week longer, but to make up for it, here's a bunch of questions about the Orisha!

Question: How should a group that doesn't use your Fatebond system use the Akunleyan boon?

Question: Is there any correlation between Erinle and Ganesha?

Question: How much of a freaking badass is Eshu?

Question: What are some cool Orisha relics for a Scion of Oko?

Question: Hello. I'm a little curious about something in your Orisha writeup. You mention that Oya is a warlike goddess, yet she doesn't have the War purview. Why not?

I'm imagining elephant parties now and they are totally ponderously awesome. (But the posturing and gang signs between the African and Indian elephants are getting dangerous. Elephants are serious business.)

  1. you pretty much answered my question. I meant badass in the sense that absolutely no one fucks with him, as he is the guy who made Shango shut up with just a few words, completely mind fucked with the pantheons greatest seer, and tricked his own father, the highest creator of the universe into hiding in heaven. If that's not bad ass, I don't know what is.

  2. Maximum fatebonds are always +4. So at best you could get +12 if you had fatebonds to health, stamina, and medicine and tried to cast heal/infect.

    1. Aye, that's true for RAW. Anne and John balanced Akunleyan around their own system, which would be a scaling bonus. +4 dice isn't nearly powerful enough to make that a worthwhile Boon at Demigod and God.

    2. Their fatebond system says it maxes out at +4 successes for each bond, and they stack.

True for RAW? +4 dice? I want whatever you are smoking.

    3. +4 is correct for individual Fatebonds. Our god-level Fatebond system for cults isn't up yet, but once they hit Legend 9, the maximum bonus from a single cult becomes +10 dice/+10 autos and vice versa. So feel free to jump it up for them at that point.

  3. I have a lower legend Pesedjet Scion with Animal (Elephant) and a pet elephant. He'd want in on an Elephant Party. At least, until he was invited to one. Then maybe not.

  4. Not the questioner, but I have another Oya query: a lot of legends seem to call her a powerful sorceress, yet she does not have Magic? (Beast Shape honestly seems a better explanation for the water buffalo episode than The Trickster).

    1. I feel like we really need to revisit Oya having Illusion. I talked to John about it the last time it came up and we didn't seem to have the notes on it anymore, so it's worth going back through and figuring out exactly why that change was made and whether it should change.

Oya's Magic connections are similarly as weak as her War ones, though. She doesn't actually ever seem to do it, and even if she's using Beast Shape for these transformations, sometimes using level 6 Magic doesn't translate to having the Wyrd.
