Custody Battles of the Divine

Question: When Geoff and Sangria's kids come of age, will they be Scions of Sowiljr, or of Eztli? Or will it simply be a matter of who gets to them first?

Per Scion's rules, they could be either; it only depends on which parent taps them as a Scion. There's a mutual understanding between the players that Sowiljr will probably take the more obviously Norse-flavored children (Aren, Dyre and Gisli) and Eztli will take the ones in which the Aztec blood flows more strongly (Yolotli and Cuahuitl). Chicahua is permanently glued to his mother, since he was parthenogenic and doesn't have any actual blood relation to Sowiljr (but then again the little monster's Titanspawn, so he couldn't have been a Scion anyway).

But that's all planning, and who knows what might happen in the meantime? They're still just kids, so the only one who's actually been tapped as a Scion is Aren, who Sowiljr had to prematurely activate to make sure he escaped some Titanic forces that were trying to corrupt him. Pressure situations, spats or parents dying might very well change those childrens' parentage options overnight - not to mention the fact that either Huitzilopochtli or Baldur, as their grandparents, are both fully capable of coming in and taking one of them as a Scion (which Huitzilopochtli actually already did once by tapping their daughter Ahuiliztli for his own purposes).

There are many dangerous waters to navigate as new young gods, and trying to keep your progeny in one piece and aligned with you is definitely one of the big ones, especially when more than one pantheon is involved.

  1. How many kids do Geoff and Sangria HAVE?

    1. Those seven, actually. :) Aren is the oldest, followed by the twins Dyre and Yolotli, followed by Ahuiliztli, followed by another set of twins, Gisli and Cuahuitl. Chicahua is technically only Sangria's son, but Geoff insists that he has officially adopted him, no matter what he says.

There would probably be a lot more, but life's been rough for them lately.

    2. "Life's been rough for them lately."

Anne says as their friends, family, and civilizations die in the background and Sangria may or may not be dead herself...

    3. I admit I'm surprised they have so many kids.

While I've gotten the impression that they're very loyal to one another, I wouldn't think there would be a great deal of desire on either side, barring Pan's Chaos boons.

    4. Sangria considers having children her duty in several dimensions - it's her duty to her husband, it's her duty as a wife in Aztec society, and the Aztec people are severely depleted and can use as much of a population boom as they can get. Also, if she happens to be in one of the periods when Geoff has mind-whammied her into liking him, she has a vague understanding that Geoff likes sex, so while she doesn't quite get what the fuss is about herself, she'll go for it for his sake.

Geoff really, really likes being a father; having kids is possibly one of his favorite things in the world. Also, he has an on-and-off campaign to try to teach Sangria about love and happy feelings, though so far he's not sure he's made a whole lot of progress. He keeps giving it the old college try, though.

  2. At first Geoff didn't want to be with Sangria physically. It was more out of duty and consummation of the marriage. Both fathers wanted their children to be happy and fruitful. Huitzilopochtli saw that Geoff would make a good husband, even though his daughter does not know how to love. Geoff is on a never ending mission to have more with Sangria than just duty, to be intimate and care for each other. Sangria has only ever expressed love as duty. Geoff's is more traditional, as no one has been this close to him since his mother. Sangria on orders from her father obeys Geoff, and in a sense loves him as much as she can love anything. So I would say that there is a desire on both sides.

  3. What is Chicahua? I know he is Eztli's kid from a rock (I think) so that makes him titanspawn. . .how is he titan spawn?

    I don't understand

    1. The rock in question was infused with power from an Australian creation/fertility Titan; it impregnated Sangria when she touched it. The kid is hers, but also from that Titanic power, so he's permanently tainted with Titan blood.

He's an unpleasant little monster but his parents love him anyway.
