Question: What's the range of the Flick Knack?
Heh, another one where I went back to look and was like, "Oh, yeah, they're right, it doesn't say. Huh. Yup."
Flick's range is your unobscured sightline, the same as any other ranged attack but without the pesky constraints of the range on a weapon since you don't have to worry about getting an object's architecture to accommodate your ridiculous desire to hit someone who is way too far away. That means that your target needs to be within your perceptive range (any further away, and they're too fuzzy to aim properly) and that there can't be anything in the way that prevents you from seeing them (so if they're underground, for example, or inside a building and not standing in front of a window, no dice).
But inside those particulars, not even the sky is the limit. For those with truly great Epic Perception and Flick, it is entirely possible to punch a guy in Seattle while you are on the moon.
Hijacking one of these mechanics clear-up posts to ask about another Boon: Water Mastery.
ReplyDeleteThe description says it allows you add your normal Strength and Epics to your attacks, in addition to double your Water Boons as autos, which is pretty neat.
But what happens when a Scion wants to make a stunt to turn the water into Ice/Vapor? Does Water Mastery cover that as well or does he have to use Changing States on top of it? And if he does, will he end up getting triple his Water Boons total, or are both attacks treated separately?
On a different note, since the Boon allows one to manipulate such a massive amount of water, how do you handle multiple attacks with it? Is it limited to two like everything else, or can you go all tsunami on armies and the like?
Oh boy, that ended up being much longer than I expected, sorry about that. If you think I should send this in as a separate question I will!
DeleteAnd we just noticed another thing (I'm starting to feel bad about this post) is the damage Lethal or Bashing? It doesn't really say on either Boon!
DeleteShould probably go ahead and shoot it into the question box. I think their all very good questions though.
DeleteSince the boon is in the grapple tree, it means you can even use flick to grab someone's wrist from across a room and make them punch someone else!
ReplyDeleteOr just cover their mouth and smother them.
Actually, I think it does not allow you that?
DeleteThat is what wind-grapple is for.
As with one-inch-punch and disfiguring attack, it is meant to be used with unarmed attacks I think.
Jef is correct.
DeleteYeah, it's for striking, not grappling. There's grappling in the knack tree, but it's not all about grappling - Disfiguring Attack and One-Inch Punch are also for striking. It's more of a "do terrifying superhuman damage" tree than a grappling tree.
DeleteOn a side note: Mortal Strok is still the only way to deal aggravated while armed, right? Disregarding Fire-Wepons with Baelfyr I mean.
DeleteHurl to the Moon also does damage with throwing weapons, but they're the only two at the moment.
DeleteIs it safe to assume that this would apply to other boons and knacks with unspecified range?
ReplyDeleteUsually, but it never hurts to ask. We try, but once in a while a lack of clarity is just a mistake on our part, and we wouldn't want anyone using something in an epically broken manner.
