Question: Dreamcraft. So a high Epic Wits character with no Epic Intelligence can maintain no distinct illusions? Did you mean to say Epic Wits?
Nope, we said Epic Intelligence and we meant it! Intelligence is the stat used to represent concentration and the ability to think about more than one thing at once, which is why the Multi-Tasking knack is under Epic Intelligence. A Scion who doesn't have the brainpower to concentrate on multiple things at once simply doesn't have the wherewithal to run several realistic illusions at once; he'll need to simplify down to a number he can handle simultaneously without getting confused.
However, using Dreamcraft always allows you to have one illusion up by virtue of your powers of chicanery, even if you have no Epic Intelligence. We can see where the boon as written right now might seem to be suggesting otherwise, so we've edited it to make it more clear. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!
How does Parallel Attention fit into this?
ReplyDeleteMulti-Tasking is the knack you want for doing lots of stuff at once. But Multi-Tasking is already built into Dreamcraft - MT just lets you do things = Epic Intelligence, and Dreamcraft also lets you run illusions = Epic Intelligence. I'd say a Storyteller could decide that illusionists with MT could have more going on at once thanks to the knack, but I don't know if I'd give them the full Epic Int dots again, because it sounds like it might get out of hand for this one Illusion boon to get double MT when nothing else in the game does.
DeleteParallel Attention won't actually help you do more things at once, since it's about paying attention but not actually doing (i.e., Parallel Attention is for listening to three concerts at once, Multi-Tasking is for playing in three concerts at once). However, if you're trying to have your separate illusions interact with several people or things at once, not having Parallel Attention will probably result in you having some negatives to your roll as you try to split your attention between too many things at the same time.
Both Multi-Tasking and Parallel Attention is the magic combination for Scions who want to do all the things, all the time.
