Anne's Fiction Corner

Okay, so, I'm sorry, guys. This was supposed to be a story about Geoff, who was voted in next and has a lot of significant stuff to be doing in Egypt right now. And I really did sit down to write a story about Geoff, but while I was working on it realized that it needed to be happening concurrently with this story, and that this one should really come first for reasons of perspective and continuity.

So today we have The Seven-Snake Voyage of Mitchell Gozer, starring Mitchell Gozer with guest appearances by Geoff Matheson, Marcus James and Sangria Tecuhtli. It is a tale of extremely grudging heroism, incredibly uncomfortable selflessness, and enduring bromance.

And speaking of bromance, the next story will definitely be the Geoff tale that goes along with this one. Cross my heart.

  1. -"Don't fail me now, ladies," he said, throwing pride to the wind, and felt the answering tug from far away of some wizened hand on the thread of his destiny. Then, sailing over the snake at too many miles per hour, he hocked his nose into the back of his throat and spat the most impressive glob of mucus of his life straight down onto its face.-

Heh, he talked to the Moirai?
    Impressive.
I wonder what they feel about Goze, anyway?

(I can't help but think they consider him cute for all that he's doing, but that might just be because it would really be perfect for the ones Goze is trying to oppose to actually like/be amused by him)

    1. I think the Moirai do find him kind of cute - wee little magician, doing tiny little magician things! Of course, they also have to kick his ass around for the hubris of presuming he can tell them what to do, but I think they probably enjoy that, too.

      Goze and Fate are frenemies.

    2. That's just an hilarious mental image, right there.
I can't help but imagine the Titan Avatars in Comprenion just sit around some days, just watching the crazy shit Goze tries to do to fight them.

...I almost htink it's a shame Goze ended up with who he did, because getting entangled with a Moirai would be far more hilarious.

(I hope the Moirai comes out of this War ok, I really do - they need to continue sticking around at the end, no matter how your game goes)

    3. Oh, don't worry - Goze and the three ladies have a lot more to do with one another in the future.

    4. See, that's jut not fair.
You can't say something like that and then not expand on it, at least a little!

Maybe you could drop some hints?

    5. Mr. Anonymous,

      You really have no idea....

  2. Holy shit, Goze, way to go.
I think he's taken joint first place as my favorite character in this, together with Geoff.
    That's damn impressive!

    1. Goze tends to pick his moments, but when he goes for it, he goes balls to the wall!

    2. I know!
      It's fantastic.

I really like that he does all of this, basically, just to protect his fellow Scions.
Then again I'm really a big fan of friendship and such and you can't deny that Goze just showed a whole hell of a lot of that, given that he's basically fought giant snakes all on his own (well ok, Apollo helped along, too)

(Kebauet is nice, too, since she basically set this up so he'd go along with saving them all, by putting it this way - I hope there will be more interaction between them, in the future!)

    3. And he doesn't even have Loyalty. He's just that much of a superstar.

Kebauet was very grateful to Geoff for setting her up with her new hubby (rawrrr), so helping him rescue his kids probably seemed like a nice thank-you. Also, I'm sure she couldn't resist the opportunity to keep irritating Goze some more.

    4. In the game Kebauet even got a little sweet on Goze. They had hours of conversations as he waited by that waterfall refusing to go in... Goze has his own brand of conviction....

  3. You know, i have to wonder what Isis was thinking, here...
Those kids belong to both the Aesir, and the Aztlanti.
By having them threatened, isn't she basically painting a target on herself (and probably her son, which Set would like quite a bit I imagine), for at least 2 different pantheons?

    1. It's hard to tell. They're certainly children who might be members of either pantheon some day, but they're also not necessarily super important commodities right now - they're just mortal babies and nobody's put any effort into them but their parents, so while the Aesir or Aztlanti might ask for weregild or favors in return for their deaths, they probably aren't about to march to war over it. (Unless someone hits Loyalty Extremity, anyway, in which case all bets are off.)

Also, in all technicality, Isis didn't threaten them yet. Geoff just realized she probably would because he'd turned on her, and Goze got them out before she found out. Exactly how she was planning on using them as a bargaining chip remains a mystery.

Isis always plays the long game, and a lady with Ultimate Manipulation might not be wrong to think she could pull this off without any repercussions on her end.

    2. Hm, true enough - but there could be Loyalty Extremity, and then the Aesir will go to war, and now Set is there laughing because Isis is being hunted down by Thor and Loki and whoops here comes Odin.

(Also, other gods have Ultimates as well, so it pays to be careful)

Also, fair enough about her not actually threatening anyone yet.
Still feels like a strange plan, I got to admit.

    3. The ways of ultimate manipulators are cloudy and indistinct. :)

    4. Heh, yeah, sorry if I'm thinking too much about this, I don't mean to be a bother
It's just, the Aesir are some of my favorites, so I'm probably biased in how I'm thinking.

      This was nicely written.
      Thanks for posting it!

  4. I've read through part of this story and it makes me chuckle. Its well thought out and I liked it so far. The one and only reason I did not finish it yet, is cause I had class. I thought I'd just do a little and get a small taste, then write more on the story I sent to Anne to read somewhat on how the game on the West Coast was going during some downtime. Unfortunately, it does not have really much of the emotion that she has, cause its more solo, but there are parts where you can see he has problems with the group that never get fixed.

Anyways, the story had my entire hour break before I had to go to my class. lol. So you should feel good Anne. lol.

    1. Honestly, its not that hard to get my attention, but to keep mine is another matter. Its just how it goes sometimes.
