Baa Baa Black Sheep

Question: Out the currently active player characters, who is the most pain in the ass hardest to deal with fucks everything up bitch/bastard of the band? It seemed like John Doe fit that role pretty well before he got killed.

John did indeed maintain the crown for horrible dumbassery and ruining his bandmates' lives for pretty much the entire time he was alive. The incident with his Expression extremity alone is still giving Kettila nightmares.

But he's dead now (and his band probably harbors some guilty relief). Of the currently active players, it really depends on the day; they're all guilty of causing massive screwups and being dangerously unstable to be around. Eztli might once have been a good candidate, but at this point Sowiljr has her on pretty firm lockdown, so she's only a terrifying loose nuclear cannon when he's not around. Terminus also used to be a constant potential for things going south, but he's had something of a change of heart and is doing better lately, so most of his screw-ups just ruin his day instead of everyone else's.

Will's usually the go-to fuckup for the Skeins group, especially when he gets a bee in his Vanir bonnet or somebody calls him a girl, but lately both Jioni and Folkwardr have been giving everyone headaches, either by causing massive global meltdowns by accident or by deciding to be the voice of strident dissent when it comes to the band's goals. And Vala, of course, has a long history of selling people out, sending the band on massive errands that were on her agenda instead of the gods', and attempting to commit suicide, so a lot of problems can be traced back to her meddling.

I think, for worst just-can't-avoid-ruining-everything pain in the ass, my money's still on Zwazo Fou Fou. He may have become slightly (slightly) less crazy since apotheosis and has stopped doing things like blowing up other Scions' offices or killing Titan Avatars, but his tendency to say distressingly inappropriate things has not gone away and he's developed a taste for very dangerous practical jokes. Oh, sure, he might think it's hilarious to confuse Eztli into straight-up attacking Ares, but the rest of the band definitely did not find the resulting near-fatal mess amusing.

  1. Zwazo. Easily.

In the other game Id consider them all pretty even. They all spend about equal time ruining things. But their ruining usually ends up working better.

    1. Oddly enough, I think Yoloxochitl actually doesn't cause all that much trouble. Then again, everybody else keeps making her turn her face off.

  2. It seems like out of all of them, in both groups, Geoff is the most "heroic" meaning that he has the most morals, integrity, and common sense.

    1. Close, you havnt gotten to see the newer stuff. But terminus is actually by far the most heroic. Geoff takes a very "protect my people, save the world, any means necessary" kind of approach. Terminus is more hero, save everyone, must do things only the heroic way type guy.

He just isnt great at the saving the world part yet.

    2. In the stories I read Gozer seemed more the smart mouth who didn't like putting his ass on the line if he could ever avoid it.

    3. Oh, he still doesn't like putting his ass on the line. He'll avoid it if he can. But he has five dots of Valor, and after all the bad shit he's pulled, he's feeling sort of penitent about the whole affair.

Also, unfortunately, the fiction is somewhat behind the current status of the game (you can tell because they're not gods in the fiction yet!). A lot of things have happened to Terminus and everyone else in the intervening time, and some of them have changed in personality somewhat because of it. Growing up, if you will.

  3. Agreed. Geoff is definitely a capital-H Hero, but he will kill you in your sleep if he thinks it'll save his family. Terminus won't. He'll wake you up, give you a sword, and declare his intentions and probably explain before he tries to fight you in single combat.

Folkwardr, Jioni and Vala all have very strong moral compasses, too, but they're more in the pragmatic sometimes-you-gotta-cap-someone-to-save-the-world camp. Jioni, I think, is moving away from that and closer to pure heroism.
