Question: You gonna put a bestiary in someday?
Maybe. Maybe not. You're not the boss of us.
We've definitely talked about it, but statting a lot of creatures is a really huge project, so we'll probably wait until we're in the mood to tackle it head-on. It was on the polls for a little while but didn't get much voting love, but that doesn't mean it won't show up there again someday!
Honestly, a bestiary is just so big - there are a lot of mythical creatures, guys, and giving them raw stats just means that anyone who wants to use them will have to change those stats if we don't put them at the exact power level your game needs them - that it's not a project I'm personally eager to embark on soon.
Not to mention that, for potential Birthright Creatures and Followers, that requires a TON of work for each dot of Legend they acquire
ReplyDeleteJeebus, even if we did a bestiary i dont think we could possibly do them also as birthright creatures.
DeleteHow about not giving them stats?
ReplyDeleteThere's a tonne of cool monsters out there that people don't know about, and I think having a document that listed some of the more obscure ones, along with what powers they traditionally have so STs can stat them up to their needs, would be useful and hella interesting.
I mean, even Greek myth, despite being a fan favourite, has monsters no one's heard of. For example, I'd never heard of the Ophiotaurus until Rick Riordan came along. Or Kampe for that matter.
I'm still of the opinion that the Pantheons and Titanrealms need priority, but if you ever do choose to make a Bestiary, perhaps this approach would be better in general, given just how many house rules people use for this game.
I mean, that wouldnt be much more then a wikipedia though.
DeleteIt would have your stamp of approval, which I trust a lot more than wikipedia.
DeleteI like Samurda's idea. A comprehensive list, sortable by pantheon and/or legend rating, with details about what titanrealm they might belong to, what legend range they would be suitable for, a brief description and any specific powers or trophies they were known to have in myth - all unstatted of course.
DeleteYou could launch it with maybe a dozen entries for each pantheon, and then release updates to the bestiary (as desired by voting) every so often, a handful of entries at a time.
