Tomorrow or the day after, John's Scion Resources (and this blog, etc.) will be going down for a few days. We are working on our upcoming wedding in June, and had to put a deposit on stuff that left us with not enough money to pay for the website.
So, we'll be down for a little bit until our next paycheck gets here (or, worst-case scenario, the following paycheck). In the meantime, we'll keep working on stuff, and hopefully have lots of fun things for you when we come back. We appreciate your patience. Keep coming up with fun questions while we're gone.

What are your upkeep costs for the site, if you don't mind my prying?
ReplyDeleteNothing too terrible - fifty a year for the hosting, with a rider of thirty a month to make sure we have a strong enough connection to handle things like PDF uploading. Normally not a problem, but budgeting's a big ugly bear around wedding time. The hosting will go down at midnight tonight, I believe, and hopefully be back up a day or two thereafter. :)

DeleteIt's a nice idea, but I feel like most people probably wouldn't be interested. Our players are the ones who really benefit most, and they already do donate a lot in the form of cardstock and printer ink and toilet paper and all the other things we need a lot of when we have what feels like eighty people in and out of the house every week.
It never hurts to give the option. You and John seem to have a bit of a following on here.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, it somehow feels like to much. Hubris-y, you know? And if there's one thing Scion's taught us, it's that you should live in fear of ever displaying hubris in any way.

While this site was originally made for your players, I now use it almost exclusively for my games as well. There's rule tweaks here and there for stuff I may or may not agree with but that's personal touches. I know I'm not the only one, but yarr, maybe try a donation button or something?
ReplyDeleteI think we're going to try to rig one up real quick for now... maybe drop it off later or something if it starts making us feel like uncomfortable grabberators. I'm glad you use the site, though, I'm all tickled, especially since I enjoy reading your game recaps. :)
