Scion AMA: Sangria Tecuhtli

Today's set of questions is for Sangria Tecuhtli, better known as Eztli, goddess of blood and warrior of the Teotl. Eztli is not particularly communicative, but luckily her nahualli, the great bat Cuacitlali, is a little more forthcoming and inclined to jump in and share her opinions.


Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or 1 horse sized duck?

Those are the same.

BOTH ARE DELICIOUS.

How many children is too many?

If I cannot feed my children, this is bad. If I cannot protect my children from danger, this is bad. If my children cannot live under a roof, this is bad.

I feed my children of my own flesh. I house them in the bones of my land. I protect them from danger everywhere and every time. It is a wife's duty to bear children while these things are true.

I CAN MAKE A WHOLE COLONY OF PUPPIES IN A FEW MINUTES AND THEN I HAVE ALL THE BABIES.

How do you see mortal society and ordinary people now, and how do you identify with them or anything in the world you came from - family, country or nation of origin, baseball teams, etc?

My people are my people. This is never changing. They are part of their land and it is part of them. I protect them. This is what I have always done. I do it now.

How do you remember your mortal life? Nostalgia? Contempt? Indifference? What do you miss the most?

I don't understand. I am what I am.

Do you intend to go to your high-school reunions - for those who qualify and whose high schools aren't ash?

I don't know what that is.

How many, if any, people from your mortal lives know who you are and what you've become? Are you in even passing contact with any of them?

My people know me. They have always known me. I belong to them.

I AM THE EATER OF STARS. EVERYBODY KNOWS WHO I AM.

If you had Comprenion by the short-hairs, and you could make it so that you were a mortal who had never been a Scion, and things had just run their course, would you? In other words - was it worth it?

I don't understand.

Who means more to you, Geoff or Chicahua?

Geoff is my husband. Chicahua is my son. I give them whatever they need. I would die for them.

I LOVE GEOFF. HE TASTES DELICIOUS. CHICAHUA IS MY PUPPY AND I WILL EAT YOU IF YOU TRY TO TOUCH HIM.

Who is Chicahua's dad?

Chicahua is my blood. He is grown of my flesh. He is like the hummingbird.

Geoff says he is. Sometimes Geoff is not very smart.

What is the worst thing any of your bandmates have ever done to you? And why?

No one I ever met could hurt me. Most of them are weak.

SOMETIMES GEOFF WON'T LET ME EAT ANYTHING AND I AM SO HUNGRY AND SAD AND HE WON'T EVEN LET ME BITE HIM, AND THAT'S THE WORST AND I ALMOST DIE. SOMETIMES THE BROWN PERSON TRIES TO TOUCH HIM AND I BITE HER.

If given the choice of whom to travel with and you had to pick five persons, who would they be?

Geoff and my seven children.

If you discovered another way to empower the gods, one that did not require death, would you pursue it?

Life always requires death. This is the hunger of the world.

I PURSUE LOTS OF THINGS. I ALWAYS CATCH THEM. THEN I EAT THEM. IT'S GOOD.

Do you ever have nightmares? Do you ever have good dreams?

I don't sleep.

Do you ever enjoy listening to people tell stories?

Geoff is very good at talking. He does it all the time.

Is there anyone who you aren't allowed to kill, who you wish you were?

I kill who I am asked to kill. This is my purpose.

GEOFF WON'T LET ME EAT THE FISH IN HIS POND BECAUSE HE'S A CRUEL HUSBAND AND HE WANTS ME TO STARVE TO DEATH.

What pantheon is just the worst? What pantheon's nearly as good as your own family?

The Aesir are meat to rot. There is no one else.

What's your favorite food? Favorite drink? Do you have anything of a sweet tooth?

I don't eat unless Geoff says so.

Why did you marry Geoff? There must have been other pretty men around who care more about Aztec Virtues.

Geoff has always been my husband. This is the will of my father. I am an obedient soldier, and daughter, and wife. I know my duties.

I do my job. I don't do anything else.

If Geoff is the King... are you Queen of the Aesir? Do you get to hang out with the likes of Hera, Isis and other king wives? Do they... want you to hang out with them?

Geoff calls me queen. His kingdom is full of nothing. I do not go there. Kings and queens talk to him, not me.
